On Writing: Imaginary Friends

I have imaginary friends! There it goes, I say it aloud and I am proud!
I have many imaginary friends.

My first one was Natalie Hartt who was scared and confused about her past. I had to follow her around and ask her a million questions about her life and personality, but she stubbornly refused to cooperate. I sweated a lot in order to make her share her thoughts with me, but in the end I won! She was a pain in the ass though, I'm telling you.

Gone Girl

If you've read my posts Sharp Objects and Dark Places, I'm sure you know how crazy I am about Gillian Flynn. Those two books, are the best books I've read lately, overcoming my love for Harry Hole too! Yes, yes, I shamelessly admit it. I love Flynn more than Nesbo.

And since I enjoyed her books so much, it was time to read Gone Girl!

On Writing: What about plot?

I’m not a plotter. I don’t map my way through the book when an idea comes, I don’t try to understand my characters when they first appear to me and I don’t demand answers. I just ask questions. I am one of those writers who write actions and justify them. Is this the right way? I don’t know, but this is the way it happens.

When the fog dissolves

I think I've got it all figured out!

It was about time. Or it wasn't. I don't really know when, if there is such a time, where you know all the stuff about your story, but last night I saw the bigger picture. (The Kamikaze move actually helped me a lot!)

Usually, I write following my gut. There is a scene that prompts me to write, a character or some random words that came to mind and turned out to be a story. That usually goes on until I'm pretty close to the end where, at last, I know how the story is going to end.

Night of Cake and Puppets by Laini Taylor

What a book!

So, this is the second novella I ever read and I think I'm starting to like the concept of a novella. Especially since those two were amazing. First Shadows by L. J. Armentrout and now this one by Laini Taylor.

It's been a while since I read Daughter of Smoke and Bone series (I still have to read the third book too) and I had completely forgotten how much I love Laini's writing! I mean, when I started Night of Cake and Puppets it swept me off my feet.

Kamikaze move

I'm having an issue, a very serious and urgent one and I'm frozen until I figure out how to solve it. I need to solve it, so I can keep on writing and I my fingers itch the more I postpone my writing due to that issue.

I think you get it. I have an issue!

Unforgettable view

In the prospect of a trip, what I really love is the knowledge that new memories are going to be created. Of course I can't possibly know if those memories are going to be good or bad, colorful or dark, but I sure know they're going to be new ones. And new memories are always welcomed.

During my short trip in France new memories were created but since I came back, my mind has stuck to one in particular. And it's none else but the view of Paris, at night during the take off.
